A poetry challenge hosted by TJ Paris over on his blog asks that this week we consider windows and their various different meanings, appearances or qualities. On a trip to Fremantle Prison (Western Australia) while there were many windows most were tiny, dark and locked tight – I thought the lightness of these open windows in the chapel highlighted to me what it would feel like to be stuck in a place with no view of the outside world. Based on that, here is my haiku…
I did not know it
‘Til my windows were all barred:
A view, meant freedom.
