Natural Lens

Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia has a multitude of gorgeous coves and bays – I went on a day trip there for my youngest brother’s birthday and the water was so incredibly vivid that I snapped a huge number of pictures!

PHOTOGRAPHY 101 – DAY 3: WATER

The geometric patterns of kelp on the rocks made a really cool contrast to the soft ripples that moved across them, creating a really fascinating distortion! I love the way that things immersed in water can suddenly look so different.

Ok, so this isn’t a portrait photo like the challenge today asked for, but I thought it conveyed that idea that in composing your photos it is all about how much you let into your viewfinder. This is the view that gives context to the top image, changing the focus from just that one jagged edge of coast to an entire vista! I think it worked out pretty well ;P

Have a fantastic afternoon everyone! 😀
