WELCOME ABOARD…

I take pictures to remember – where I’ve been, what I love and sometimes…even how I feel. I’m so deep you need a yellow helmet with a light and a safety harness before entering my brain…um….yeah, I think I’m funny sometimes too, but then I remember it doesn’t count if the only one laughing is the one who told the joke.

There’s nothing so serene as an empty beach – this one at Moore River (Western Australia) was calm as can be. I went camping there for a few days with two of my brothers and my Dad – who makes a distant appearance on the right. Moore River is so consistently satisfying that it has now become a regular camping trip for my family! Huzzah for bonding time.

On a family trip to Albany (Western Australia) we stayed next to Lake Seppings, which has a relaxing walking trail around it. On the first day Mum, Dad and I went on said trail – and discovered a section of it that was overflowing with beautiful blooming nasturtiums which were attracting almost supernatural numbers of white butterflies. It really was like walking in a romantic painting – all soft light and quiet rustling leaves. It is my favourite visual experience to date; unfortunately you can’t capture exactly how charming it was, but here’s my best attempt from the day!

This was one of the campsites we stayed at – in the middle of nowhere 😀 While there is a lot about living in Australia that may not be considered perfect, no matter where I have gone there will always be a special place in my heart reserved just for the stark, vast expanse that is Australia. I loved Paris, I aim to travel much of Europe, and I really want to see Japan; but something about the big blue sky will always make me want to come back to Australia. I guess there’ll be no Parisian retirement for me! ;P

It was all a bustle at Luna Park with the little avenue filled with happy families and smiling friends – this unspoken happiness gave the whole place a very genial and welcoming mood. The afternoon sun was soft and warm as people made their leisurely way around to the final ride for the day. This is one of my favourite snaps from my Sydney adventure, as it captured the soft mood of a satisfying, fun day winding down. ❤ Mum and I had a whale of a time!

Having just read some awesome WIP excerpts from an excellent author Kate Martyn I had to go back and peruse my France photos again; reignite that feeling for the luxury nobility experienced in years past. I think this was the doorway to the Opera Garnier – many don’t go into the building when in Paris, but this is a SERIOUS mistake – the outside is a poor representation of what lies inside. It is spectacular beyond belief. DRIPPING in gold leaf, it’s a 360 degree visual feast – the very definition of opulence.

I took this on a round-Australia-roadside-camping-trip run by the Science extension program at my High-school. I used my now defunct but pretty good for its time Kodak Easyshare – no zoom whatsoever, and it still managed to focus this close. I loved that little cheapy camera, I even named it – R.I.P. KODEEZY, I NEVER MEANT TO DROP YOU ON THE BEACH AND RUIN YOUR LENS FUNCTION FOREVER.

I adore the summer for one reason: BEACH TIME! However, you can’t be at the beach 100% of summer, so I sometimes wish summer would speed along a little faster. a few days of scorching heat then BAM. No more, just nice mild days again. I suppose one can dream. I took this photo on one such scorching day in Kalbarri (Western Australia). It’s a lovely spot that I certainly plan to head to again some time.

Parisian streets are all so narrow – you can never see around the corner when you look down them, which gives them a certain mysterious allure. I thought so anyway – hence I took a multitude of street pictures while on holiday there! Another shot with my trusty Fujifilm finepix, which may not be the tool of pros but certainly does the trick for me. 🙂

Another snapshot from stunning Kalbarri – if you’re ever travelling around the Western Aussie way, the gorges are spectacular. But clumsy people beware – I almost tripped and fell to my doom just after taking this photograph, so it has a special place in my heart as the “almost-last-photograph-of-my-lifetime”. JUST THOUGHT YOU’D LIKE TO KNOW ❤

Hey, 2014? Yeah, I’m talking to you – I take your wristwatch and raise you…THIS. I am always awestruck by things that are decorated with such panache, simply because they don’t actually need to be that way to function; some beautiful soul just thought it would be nicer to look at the time this way. Another French snap from my Parisian holiday that is unfortunately a whole year in the past now – ah, memories!

I have already posted a few of my photos from this year’s King’s Park Wildflower festival but I keep seeing more that turned out rather prettily and I can’t help myself. HERE, INTERNET, HAVE SOME MORE FLOWERS! On a side-note: we have these everlastings in our front garden now, which makes me rather happy 🙂 ❤

Paris again – this was a view from a Louvre window; we went once during the day and a second time in the afternoon to see everything we could without getting overwhelmed. It was a very good plan, as we got to see the sculptures in different light settings and had the time to really look properly at much more of the millions (and I mean MILLIONS) of artefacts in there – Dad was a legend and drew a walking-route through the building, ALSO A GOOD PLAN. It’s not a ‘walk this way’ type of setup; more a “how the hell did I end up back in the Egyptian section” type of deal. Seriously, planning was everything – THANKS DAD FOR BEING SMART XOXOXO

Kings Park (Western Australia) has a wildflower festival every year and I love it. I went with my youngest brother and father this year and caught everything at the height of spring. I tried so many times to get a shot like this but the bees were all rather inconsiderate and flew away – this one shot made it all worthwhile!

This takes me waaaaay back. I was still at high school when I went to a little town called Mandurah (Western Australia). Four days of beautiful ocean and beach scenery – even in the worst of weather, this place was stunning.

Another shot from the perfect trip to Paris – a whole year ago now, but it will always seem like yesterday! ❤ The light was there is so different to Australia – softer and less dazzling which made for some very easy snapshots!

The joys of Fremantle in summer! Living in Western Australia has many perks, the docks being one.

Some lovely flowers at Lesmurdie Falls (Western Australia). They were so bright in person, but the glare freaked my camera out – hence I used some significant colour editing to bring it back! Not 100% realistic, but pretty is always my goal ❤

My first ever post on this blog was this photo. Taken in Paris while on an enchanting holiday. I have had a few holidays, very wonderful, memorable ones – here on this blog is where I get to share them through my pictures! YAY 🙂

Not a professional, but a passionate hobbyist. I try anything that takes my fancy, be it photography, paper-art, drawing, screen-printing – as long as I enjoy the process, I shall continue to create, create and….create some more!
